Focused on storytelling and character creation nurturing from literature, history, anthropology, and the personal experiences of the designer, Somme Slovi gravitates to re-imagine the classic silhouettes into theatrical pieces, via the method of bricolage. Designs stand for everyday life and many other moments, as the brand fuses the distinction between sportswear and traditional tailoring to create garments that semaphored a streetwise glamour. Respecting the sartorial knowledge, Somme Slovi focuses on the craftsmanship in the number of outfits it produces in its atelier.
Somme Slovi's founder and designer, Gizem Gul, studied Art Management at the Yildiz Technical University. Afterward, she moved to New York to study Fashion Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology. After her graduation, she developed her professional design career by working for Vaquera, Proenza Schouler, and Helmut Lang.
